The International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group are honored to commemorate the Bretton Woods Conference held 60 years ago. As the conference opened, delegates heard a message from United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt in which he said, "At Bretton Woods, you who come from many lands are meeting for the first time to talk over proposals for an enduring program of future economic cooperation and peaceful progress."
This exhibition uses historical materials from the IMF Archives, the World Bank Group Archives, and the Joint Bank-Fund Library. Both the IMF and the Bank have maintained extensive archives since their founding, allowing this story to be told.
We hope you will enjoy this exhibition, learn more about our institutions, and appreciate how the work of the past has contributed to the achievements of the present.
