The LS Library and Terminology Unit LS Library The Language Services (LS) Library maintains a collection of dictionaries, encyclopedias,
and monographs in various languages. The subject emphasis is on economics,
finance, law, and linguistics. All Fund publications are kept by the
Library while Fund documents are kept by the RTD Reference Services. Documents
from other international organizations are kept by the Library, mostly
in English, French, and Spanish. The Library is classified under the Library of Congress Classification System
The staff will help you locate books and documents, and will query online the JOLIS Catalogue, which contains all publications and indexed articles available within the 12 Bank/Fund Network Libraries. The LS Library provides all Language Services staff with a "kit of books" individually prepared for the staff's language combinations and work-related needs. This kit of books will be assigned to the staff member who will be responsible for it while working in LS. Upon separation, it should be returned to the Library. The LS Library has a reading area where you can read or borrow books, newspapers, and periodicals. When borrowing newspapers and periodicals, please find the sign-up sheet on the reading table to register your name and periodical (with date, volume, and issue number). When returning a borrowed item, please add date returned to the same entry. To borrow books, please check the book with the Library Assistant. If the Library Assistant is not available, please register your name, your ID, title of the publication and barcode in the sign-up sheets on the reading table or on the library counter; the purpose of the barcodes is to maintain collection usage statistics. The Library staff will research and answer your terminology queries
in relation to national and international official names or titles,
as well as technical terminology, by consulting the IMF Terminology
Database, or other sources. The LS Library is also the link to terminology
and documentation services from other international organizations and
national authorities.
